About Me

Makeup is not a tool meant to make an ugly thing beautiful, it is meant only to magnify the beauty that already exists.

Eyebrows - MAC penultimate brow pen
Eyeshadow - MAC pro palette "Smut", "Vanilla" & "filament"
Mascara - Scandaleyes by Rimmel
Lipstick - MAC in "Diva"
Highlight - MAC in "soft and gentle"

Hope ye like it! :-)

Eyebrow Pens

I love eyebrow pens! They are much easier, I think, than shadow brow palettes and brow pencils tend to be very thick and harsh.

I have been using MAC's penultimate brow pen for a few months now and I love it! It's so much more natural looking when applied. You apply it making hair like strokes, filling in any gaps. It's €21.

About a week ago I came across Eylures new range of brow products in Boots and was delighted to find they have a brow pen out now! I was so hopefull that I wouldn't have to be spending all the money on the MAC pen anymore now I'd found this much cheaper version at €13.50.

This pen is two sided, with a slim tip on one end and a thick tip on the other.
My excitement about this product didn't last too long however because after a few tries it seemed to be drying out a bit.. The colour pay off was poor, compared to the MAC pen... Wahhh! :-(
I havnt seen these eyebrow pens done by any other drug store brands.
I've had my MAC pen for months and it's still got better pay off than the Eylure pen I got a week ago... So, I will definetly going back and paying the extra few euro in MAC in the future. :-)

Special Effects Cuts

These are so so so easy to do I don't know why it's taken me so long to get into them.
All you need is wax, blood and gel blood (it's pretty gloopy) and maybe a bruise wheel (you could just use eyeshadows)

I got my inspiration off Pinterest for the finger.. Here's a step by step tutorial:

Don't worry (if you actually try this out that is) if it looks a bit messy compared to this pic.. The blood will fix everything haha!

The cut on my arm I did in 1 minute.. Again using wax.. Spreading it out in a fairly thin layer using a scissors to make the cut, filling it with blood and adding bruising using my bruise wheel... I think I could have done better though... But it's a start eh! :-)

Hope you enjoyed!

Cracked Face

This was done in like 2 minutes just before I went to bed!
I used eyeliner while looking at a picture of a cracked dolls face... I'd use black face paint next time I try to improve it though, the eyeliner tends to fade and crack! :-)
I really need to get into this SFX stuff! It's a start anyway i guess! :-)

Realistic Theatrical Ageing

I've been dying sick all week! I've got tonsillitis along with a fever I'm feeling crap so I'll just do a brief update now on this look.
I've already got the stage theatrical ageing up on here but this one now is way more realistic and much funner to do, in my opinion :-)

For this I used Makeup International liquid latex, their foundation palette and their coloured face paints palette.. You can get  those products and way more special effects makeup on www.makeupinternational.com :-)

Liquid latex STINKS of vomit, hair dye, eggs, old socks... Everything awful mixed in one basically. But you get over it. I much prefer doing it on someone else than getting it done on me cause it kinda does feel uncomfortable and it made me break out big time!
You apply it using a cosmetic sponge.
While doing this look you:

• Prepare everything beforehand.. Products.. Brushes.. Etc.
• Pull the area where you are applying the latex to apart between 2 fingers and apply latex using the sponge.. Keeping the skin pulled, dry using a hair dryer on COLD setting. Using hot air will make the latex blister and bubble.. Not cool :-P
• Do this step for all over the face.. You'll see the fine lines this creates around the face as well as really emphasizing lines (sides of mouth) and wrinkles (smokers pout) that were there beforehand.
• Get the model/yourself to make all the facial expressions you can think of (smile , shock, frown)
• Using a foundation 2 shades too dark, apply all over the face and down the neck.
• Using the smallest, thinnest brushes you can find, apply a very dark brown (not black unless on black skinned people) to all the lines you can see. Basically, fill in all lines and wrinkles with a very thin line. (This is easier if you get them/yourself to pull the facial expressions again.)
• You now need to very delicately take the very thin brush and using a very light cream or white foundation (all in the foundation palette) apply this to each side of the already draw on dark lines.. At the same time try to blend the two lines together to make a more natural look.
• Lastly you can add dark blue/grey undertones to the eye sockets, under eyes, near the mouth, cheek bones, temples, to give that very old, withered look.
• Adding a great wig and some old lady glasses and a scarf finishes it off!

This is a great look to have in your portfolio. An ageing look needs to be completed 3 times for my end of year exam. That's 3 out of 35 looks. Wow.

It's all easy stuff once you get the hang of it :-)

Theatrical Ageing (stage)

This is theatrical ageing as in, its kindof OTT. It's meant to be that way. It's stage makeup and is meant to make an impact from a distance!
This is my mom.. She's 55! She looks maybe 99 now haha!!

I'll do a step by step of this look on myself Friday! It's probably not everyone's idea of a cool Halloween look really.. But if you're ever acting as someone older or want to have some fun with your child/children then it's great fun! We all had such a laugh in class adding grey wigs, big granny glasses and head scarfs!
We are moving on to more realistic ageing tomorrow using latex. Fun, fun!
